Paravel personifies sustainable packing solutions.
With tons of luggage, handbags, duffels, totes, packing cubes, and travel kits, Paravel will solve your packing pain. And… they’re all more or less eco-friendly.
The winner of all Paravel products is their Aviator Carry On (available in either a regular or Plus size).
TSA-approved and equipped with “impossibly smooth” carbon steel bearing wheels and tons of efficient, space-saving features, this recycled hardshell luggage option is not just sustainable, but durable enough to handle the most careless of baggage loaders.
Is Plaravel a good brand?
The answer is yes, they are. They are well made, eco-friendly, and stylish. The materials used in them are also of high quality and come in different colors.
Paravel’s Ethical and Sustainability Practices
The Aviator bags feature a fully recycled polycarbonate exterior shell, recycled PET lining made from 15 post-consumer plastic water bottles, aircraft-grade recycled aluminum telescoping handle, vegan leather-wrapped steel haul handles, and even recycled zippers.
For soft-sided stowaway bags, check out their GRS and OEKO-Tex 100 certified Negative Nylon collection which includes a fold-up bag (made of 22 bottles), and a fold-up backpack (made of 15 bottles), and packing cubes (made of 16 bottles).
They also make cotton canvas duffels (though not organic cotton) and various Café Totes made of 100% repurposed jute coffee bag bodies with handmade sustainable cork and natural leather handles.
Supply chain & labor practices:
While we don’t know where Paravel manufactures, we do know their supply chain is legally held to their published Code of Social Responsibility, which includes points such as no child or forced labor, dignity at work (i.e. no abuse or harassment), non-discrimination, fair wages, 24 consecutive hours off in a 7 day period, a healthy and safe work environment, environmental protection, and animal welfare.
All entities must also keep records to prove all of the above so they know it’s truly ethical travel luggage.
They note where some of their recycled materials are sourced, particularly in their Cafe Totes. Many of the upcycled bags come from the Italian roaster Spiga, “noted for their traceable process and commitment to improving coffee quality and worker conditions”.
Green business practices:
Paravel backs the lifespan of its products with a 5-year warranty and ships using carbon-neutral shipping.
