Is Saatva Ethical and Sustainable?
Yes, Saatva is an Ethical and Sustainable brand.
Materials:
Each eco-friendly bed frame features sustainably sourced hardwood, kiln dried to ensure it won’t warp, steel legs, and premium plywood slats.
The upholstered exterior is either made of a cotton/poly “vintage velvet” blended with natural linen or soft Antica and Verona leathers.
The taupe, natural linen, and graphite colors are not the result of toxic dyes.
We’re not certain how their leather is processed, however, and would avoid these models until we know for certain whether these are also nontoxic bed frames. Supply chain & labor practices:
We know Saatva manufactures their bedding in a Fair Trade Certified factory in India and their mattresses and organic comforters in the USA
We’re not certain where the sustainable and eco-friendly bed frames are made and will be checking in.
Green business practices:
Saatva prioritizes durability, as seen in the premium woods and fortified joints of their bed frames and lifetime warranty on all mattresses.
They also offer mattress recycling services when those who live in certain states buy one of their mattresses.
With nearly 150 fulfillment centers, most deliveries must travel less than 100 miles.
Community & charitable giving:
Donating bedding through Austin Pathways, supporting NYC’s PENCIL scholarship and career development program, and assisting with subsidized housing through Austin’s Housing Authority are just some of the ways Saatva gives back.
